* Clemson (18-6, 5-4) clinched a series win over Louisville (18-6, 4-5) with a 4-3 victory in the opener of Sunday's ACC doubleheader before the Cardinals won the nightcap, 5-1.
The Tigers scored all four runs in the fifth inning of the opener as Chris Williams and Kyle Wilkie drove in two runs apiece.
The Cardinals cut the score to 4-3 before Riley Gilliam struck out three over the final 1 1/3 innings to get the save.
Louisville outhit Clemson 14-4 in the nightcap.
Elsewhere:
* USC Aiken (20-9, 11-4) completed a Peach Belt Conference sweep of No. 9 Columbus State (22-5, 8-3). Nile Goings' two-run single highlighted a three-run third inning for the Pacers. Christian Aragon scattered four hits and three walks while striking out eight in seven innings. Brooks Salvo allowed a home run but got the save. Goings had two of USCA's three hits.
* Wofford (16-9, 1-2) avoided a sweep by Mercer (19-6, 2-1) in their opening Southern Conference Series with a 14-10 victory. The Terriers had a 9-3 lead after 3 1/2 innings before the Bears scored six to tie the score. McClain Bradley's single broke a the tie in a three-run fifth and Terriers never trailed again. Andrew Orzel had four hits and four RBIs for Wofford, which outhit Mercer 17-13.
* The misery continued for South Carolina (13-11, 1-5) with a 3-0 loss at Georgia (18-6, 5-1) to close out a series sweep. The Gamecocks, who have lost five straight games and six of their last seven, were limited to four singles in being shut out for the first time this season. Starter Ridge Chapman allowed one hit but walked five and threw two wild pitches to contribute to the first two Bulldogs runs. Georgia won despite being held to three hits.
* USC Upstate (13-11-1) rode a 10-run second inning to a 15-2 victory over Dayton in the rubber game of their three-game series at Harley Park. Russell Schwertfeger homered, singled twice, drove in three runs and scored three runs for the Spartans. Four teammates added two hits apiece.
* Furman (13-11) finally got solid pitching but the offense remained in cold storage in a 3-1 loss at No. 26 Wichita State to complete a three-game sweep. The Paladins were held to two hits for the second time in the series and finished the weekend hitting .110 (10-for-91) against the Shockers. The Paladins scored an unearned run in the third, only to have Wichita State score two in the bottom of the inning. Otherwise, Paladins starter Matt Lazzaro pitched credibly, allow seven hits and striking out five in 7 2/3 innings.
* Lander (10-18. 4-11) completed a Peach Belt Conference series sweep of Francis Marion (12-19, 5-13) with a 10-3 romp at Dolny Stadium in Greenwood. Mike Fitschen, Luke Johnson and Zack Moore had three hits apiece for the Bearcats. Gage Taylor had three hits and William Robbins singled and homered for the Patriots.
* Benedict (9-9, 3-3) salvaged the finale of its SIAC series at Albany State (11-12) by scoring two runs in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth. Joseph Macaluso singled and homered and Andrew McCoy had three hits for the Tigers.
* Florence-Darlington Tech (24-10, 6-2) and USC Sumter (23-11, 9-3) entered the weekend in a virtual tie for first place in the NJCAA Region 10 standings and remained that way after splitting a doubleheader for the second straight day. The Fire Ants won Game 1, 3-2, in 9 innings, with the Stingers taking the nightcap, 5-3.
* USC Salkehatchie (19-17, 7-5) won the nightcap of a doubleheader at Louisburg, 3-1, after surrendering the lead late in a 4-3 loss in the opener. The Indians scored two runs in the top of the sixth of Game 1 on Andrew Livingston's two-run homer, but surrendered three in the bottom of the inning. Cody Morgan's homer was the margin of victory in Game 2.
