Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, April 16-22: North Greenville

North Greenville (4-0 for the week)
(beat Augusta; went 3-0 at Barton)

There were a bunch of honor-worthy performances this week:

* Anderson's 4-2 week allowed the Trojans go 14-7 over their final 21 games after an 8-19 start.
* Clemson swept Wake Forest at Winston-Salem for the first time since 2005.
* Florence-Darlington Tech went 5-0 and clinched the Region 10 regular-season title.
* South Carolina followed up a head-scratcher of a performance in a midweek loss to Presbyterian with a three-game sweep of a ranked LSU team.

But North Greenville is just too hot to ignore. Coach Landon Powell's Crusaders went 4-0 to extend their current winning streak to eight games. My pastor friend and I attended Tuesday's 13-0 win over Augusta. The Crusaders look solid in every phase of the game.

Perhaps that's why NGU (39-6) has won 22 of its last 23 games.

The Crusaders finished 21-3 in Conference Carolinas, winning the regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the league tournament in Burlington, N.C. this week.
