Wrapping up Saturday's S.C. college baseball, April 28

Clemson (33-11, 16-7) got three home runs and clinched an ACC series victory at Virginia (24-19, 9-14) with a 5-4 victory Saturday at Charlotteville.

The win, coupled with N.C. State's 8-6 loss to North Carolina later in the day, put the Tigers alone in first place in the ACC Atlantic Division.

Logan Davidson, Chris Williams and Bryce Teodosio all connected for the Tigers, who extended their winning streak to seven games. Davidson, Williams and Sam Hall had two hits apiece for Clemson.

Brooks Crawford pitched five innings and the Tigers bullpen continued its effective work with four shutout innings. Ryley Gilliam got the final four outs for his ninth save.

Elsewhere:
* Coastal Carolina (30-14, 16-4) clinched a Sun Belt Conference home series win over Louisiana Monroe (18-24, 7-13) with an  11-4 victory at Springs Brooks Stadium. Jason Bilous struck out seven and didn't allow an earned run in six innings. Zach Biermann doubled twice and singled and Kevin Woodall Jr. singled and homered for the Chanticleers.

* College of Charleston (29-16, 11-6) beat Delaware (22-19. 7-7) for the second straight day, 11-2, to clinch a Colonial Athletic Association series win at Patriots Point. Graham McLarty struck out 12 in 7 2/3 innings. Tommy Richter was 4-for-4 with a double, a steal, three runs scored and two RBIs, while Danny Wondrack doubled and drive in four runs.

* UNC Greensboro (30-11, 11-3) regained sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference with an 11-5 decision over Wofford (29-15, 10-4) to even their series at 1-1. The Spartans scored in five consecutive innings to build a big lead. Colin Davis had three hits and drove in two runs for the Terriers.

* Vanderbilt (25-17, 10-10) scored six runs in the second inning and coasted to an 8-1 victory over South Carolina (25-18, 10-10) to even their SEC series at 1-1. Carlos Cortes staked the Gamecocks to first-inning lead with a solo homer, but the Commodores took advantage of control problems and fat pitches from USC starter Adam Hill to put up a half-dozen runs in the second.

* Anderson (24-28) fell into the losers bracket at the South Atlantic Conference Tournament with a 6-1 loss to Carson-Newman. Chandler Castleberry had tewo singles, a homer and a walk for the Trojans, who play Lincoln Memorial at noon Sunday at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn.

*Furman (20-23, 5-9) and The Citadel (15-26, 4-10) split a Southern Conference doubleheader in Charleston. The Paladins scored six runs in the 10th inning for an 11-5 victory in the opener. Jason Costa and Brandon Elmy both went 3-for-6 with 2 RBIs for the Paladins. Jonathan Sabo had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs. In Game 2, the Bulldogs took advantage of five Furman errors and went on to win, 6-1. Thomas Byelick pitched a complete game for The Bulldogs. Jeffery Brown and Ben Peden had two hits apiece for El Cid. Brandon Elmy singled, walked twice and scored once for the Paladins.
