Clemson (43-13, 22-8) finished an ACC sweep at Pittsburgh (37-25, 11-19) with a 5-0 victory Saturday. Seth Beer singled, walked twice and homered for the Tigers, who have won six straight games. Jake Higginbotham and three relievers combined for a seven-hit shutout.
The Tigers finished tied with North Carolina for the regular-season championship, but the Tar Heels were awarded the top seed under the league's tiebreaking process. The Tigers will be in a pool with No. 7 seed Miami and No. 11 Notre Dame. Based on past seasons, the daily schedule will be announced on Sunday.
Elsewhere
* South Carolina (32-22, 17-13) scored four first-inning runs and cruised to a 10-1 victory over Texas A&M (36-19, 13-17) to win the rubber game of their SEC series.
Noah Campbell and Madison Stokes homered in the first inning as part of a 15-hit USC attack. Stokes and and Jacob Olson had three hits apiece and T.J. Hopkins had an RBI single in his first action since suffering a back injury two weeks ago.
Cody Morris scattered five singles in seven innings, walking none and striking out seven. A throwing error by Morris contributed to an unearned run for the Aggies in the first inning.
The Gamecocks won their fifth straight conference series and kept their hopes for a first-round tournament bye alive until Mississippi beat Alabama, 10-8. That win gave the Rebels the West Division title and knocked Arkansas to to the fourth seed.
Carolina will play Missouri in the late game of the single-elimination opening round Tuesday in Hoover, Ala. Missouri qualified by winning the finale of its series with Tennessee
* Coastal Carolina (38-17, 23-7) closed out the regular season by going 2-1 in a series at Appalachian State (18-36, 9-21), with all three games ending on the same day. Coastal won the completion of Friday's suspended game, 10-4, then won the first game of a Saturday doubleheader, 10-5. Appalachian State won the final game, 11-7. Seth Lancaster homered three times and drove in six runs in the middle game.
*Lawson Hill's 11th-inning single gave Wofford (35-21, 15-9) a come-from-behind 9-8 win over East Tennessee State (27-23, 11-13) and a SoCon series victory. The Terriers trailed 8-0 after 5 1/2 innings, but scored two runs in the sixth, four in the seventh and two in the eighth. A single by McClain Bradley, a walk to Andrew Orzel and a one-out double steal set the stage for Hill's single up the middle. Hill and Max McDougald had two hits apiece for the Terriers, who will play the Buccaneers again at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in a first-round game of the SoCon Tournament in Greenville.
* Charleston Southern (19-33, 10-17) qualified for the Big South Conference Tournament with a 12-7 victory over UNC Asheville (13-38. 8-19) to claim a series victory. Mike Sconzo had a homer and three singles to drive in four runs. Ryan Stoudemire also had four RBIs and Derek Horton had three hits for the Buccaneers. Cody Maw pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits and a run.
* Jonathan Sabo delivered with his bat and his arm as The Citadel (19-33, 8-6) clinched a series win at Mercer (35-20, 11-13) with a 7-5 victory. Sabo singled, doubled, homered, walked and drove in four runs. He also pitched the final two innings, striking out two to get the save. Will Kinney had three hits and Taylor Cothran had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs.
* Liberty (29-21, 17-10) claimed a Big South Conference series with Winthrop (24-29, 15-12) with a 5-1 victory. Jake Sullivan homered for the Eagles' run. Winthrop will be the third seed for the conference tournament unless Gardner-Webb sweeps a Sunday doubleheader with Longwood.
* Presbyterian (15-39, 8-19) lost a doubleheader at High Point (31-21, 19-8) and will need some help to qualify for the Big South Conferenec Tournament. The Blue Hose lost the opener, 1-0, despite three hits from Nick Guimbarda. They lost Game 2, 4-3, in 10 innings. PC took a 3-2 lead in the ninth when Guimbarda doubled in a run and scored on A.J. Priaulx's single over a drawn-in infield. But High Point tied the score on a passed ball, then won in the 10th on Jordan Sergent's home run. Longwood must lose both games of a Sunday doubleheader at Gardner-Webb for PC to make the tournament.
Rain claims series finales
* College of Charleston (35-17, 15-8) had its game at UNC Wilmington rained out. Coach Chad Holbrook's team finished third in the CAA because Elon (35-21, 16-8) was able to play its Saturday game and beat William & Mary, 8-3
* Furman (24-26, 9-12) had the final day of its series with UNC Greensboro washed out. The Paladins finished seventh in the Southern Conference and will play Samford in a first-round game of the league tournament at Fluor Field in Greenville next Wednesday.
* USC Upstate (23-28-1) had its season end on a second straight rainout at Stetson. The Spartans failed to qualify for the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
NCAA Division II Southeast Regional
* North Greenville (45-9) scored four runs in the ninth inning for a 10-6 win over Georgia College (43-12) in an elimination game in Tigerville. The Crusaders play UNC Pembroke at noon Sunday. Alex Williams singled twice, doubled, homered and drove in four run as North Greenville improved to 1-10 all-time vs. North Georgia. Josh Black and Jared Williams added three hits apiece
Later in the day, UNC Pembroke (39-14) stayed alive with an 11-inning 9-8 win over Lincoln Memorial (36-21). Columbus State and Belmont Abbey played the day's final game to decide one spot in Monday's championship round.
