State schedule, Feb. 1-3

After a three-game warmup last weekend, the 2019 college baseball schedule picks up steam this weekend.

Most of the state's NCAA Division II, NAIA and junior college teams are in action.

North Greenville, ranked No. 1 in the Perfect Game DII rankings, competes at the Early Challenge at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Lander also is in the event. Other teams are Mount Olive, St. Leo and preseason No. 2 Tampa. The Crusaders and Spartans play at noon Sunday.

One player on Tampa's roster is outfielder Danny Blair, a transfer from South Carolina. Blair won most outstanding player honors for his role in the Gamecocks' victory in the Greenville (NC) Regional last June.

Elsewhere, Francis Marion plays a round robin with Claflin and Southern Wesleyan at Sparrow Stadium in Florence.

There's was one time change announced this week. Florence-Darlington Tech's Saturday doubleheader with Roane State was moved from noon to 2 p.m.

The state's NCAA Division I teams begin their seasons Feb. 15.
