Can we talk?

As the first full weekend of games approaches I'm still trying to determine what kind of commitment I'm going to make to this site in 2019.

The last two or three years I said I wasn't going to keep Palmetto State Baseball going, but each time the lure of writing about baseball has pulled me back in. A health-related issue with a family member has also sapped some of my enthusiasm.

Every year I tell myself I'm not going to get caught sitting at a computer for 10 hours on a Saturday or Sunday just to update scores, but I wind up doing it and not really enjoying the games as they're being played. If I go to a game, I find myself scrambling to catch up on game updates.

I've already stopped including links to game stories in the calendar at the bottom of the page. I want to keep including links to box scores out of the daily scorelist, but that could change as a time saver. Would you miss that if I stopped?

In the past I've put together daily digests of things like team rankings and players of the week. I've decided to let Tweets by @PalmettoBase handle most of that stuff from now on.

I've already seen indications that getting scores from a couple a schools may be an ongoing problem. At what point should I just say to heck with it and deal only with schools that are interested in the coverage this blog provides?
I don't want to start listing a lot of "no reports" on the daily scorelist, but I also don't want to be sitting here pulling out what little hair I have remaining. Also, missing scores make the team rankings less credible.

I could focus solely on NCAA Division I teams and many of the potential problems are solved. All of the state's DI schools do a pretty good job of getting their scores out there. But, most of the Division II and junior college schools also do a great job of making scores available. Plus, the fans of the smaller schools seem more appreciative of my efforts.

I've thought about doing more commentary or short features instead of focusing on scores. If you've got suggestions about what coverage you'd like to see (or NOT see), let me know in the comments section below this post.

Thanks for reading and thanks for supporting PalmettoStateBaseBall.com.

During the spring, I check the site several times throughout each day, mainly for scores and quick links to the box scores. I have found this site to be the quickest, most accurate and best way to find the info I want updates on. I like the master schedule too. When time allows on my end, I do read all the content, but certainly understand how time-consuming a baseball season can be. Have enjoyed this site since year one and appreciate the hard work put into it to celebrating the game we all love!

I also love everything you do. I love the links to box scores and the reporting of the scores. Since I have a son playing D2 baseball, I would hate to see that coverage go away, and he has friends playing on all levels, so your site is a one stop shop to keep up with all of them. But I also understand being busy and family obligations, plus the challenge the all schools don't make it easy on you. Whatever you give us, we will appreciate. And whatever you cannot, we will understand. Thanks for all you do.

Thanks for all of your hard work.
My son plays at PC and has many buddies at many schools. It is most appreciated.
