Saturday's S.C. college baseball roundup, Feb. 2

Newberry scored two runs on a throwing error in the bottom of the 12th innings to beat Belmont Abbey, 7-6, and complete a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader at the Smith Road Complex. The Wolves won the opener, 6-4, to claim the series, 2-1.

Belmont Abbey had scored an unearned run in the top of the 12th for a 6-5 lead.  After the first two Newberry batters drew walks, Tanner Lane attempted to sacrifice the runners over. The Crusaders' pitcher fielded the ball, but threw wildly, allowing both runners to score.

Tyler Ackard had a triple and drove in four runs for Newberry.
