Mat Clark struck out seven and allowed three hits over seven shutout inning to spark Clemson to a 5-1 victory over Notre Dame at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday, evening the ACC series at one win apiece.
Notre Dame (7-10, 3-2) had a runner thrown out at home trying to score to end the second inning. Clemson (14-4, 4-1) responded by scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Bryce Teodosio's RBI double and steal of home.
Eric Gilgenbach, who hit a three-run homer in Friday night's Notre Dame win, was robbed of another homer Saturday by Kier Meredith's leaping grab in left field to end the fourth inning.
Kyle Wilkie had three hits and Sam Hall added two for Clemson, which outhit the Fighting Irish, 9-6.
Elsewhere:
* Jake Wright reached base five times and Coastal Carolina clinched a Sun Belt Conference series win at Louisiana Monroe with a 14-2 victory.
The Chanticleers (15-4-1, 2-0) had 11 hits and also drew 14 walks and two hit batmen.
The Warhawks (7-11, 0-2) took a 2-0 lead into the fifth, but Coastal quickly reversed things with a four-run outburst.
Wright singled, walked three times and was hit by a pitch as he continued to take advantage of his chance to start after Parker Chavers' injury.
Mike Koenig had a grand slam and Scott McKeon had three hits for the Chanticleers.
* South Carolina (14-5, 0-2) hit three hit runs to take a four-run lead, but Georgia rallied for an 8-7 victory to clinch a Southeastern Conference series win in Columbia in a matchup of ranked teams.
Luke Berryhill, Andrew Eyster and Ian Jenkins homered for the Gamecocks, but Georgia (17-2, 2-0) scored four runs in the fifth and two in the sixth as USC struggled on the mound (13 hits, 4 walks), defensively (3 errors) and at the plate (12 strikeouts). Three Bulldogs runs were unearned.
Berryhill singled in addition to homering for USC.
* Chaz Davey's eighth-inning single was the deciding run as College of Charleston (12-6) won a 2-1 pitchers' duel with Furman and secured a series victory at Patriots Point.
Furman (5-11) scored a run in the first but missed a chance at a bigger inning and left the bases loaded. The Cougars tied the score in the bottom of the inning, but neither team could scratch again until Luke Manzo walked, went to second on a sacrifice and scored on Davey's hit.
