USC Aiken's team bus catches fire on trip home from North Georgia

The bus carrying USC Aiken's baseball team back from a weekend series at North Georgia caught fire and burned near Greensboro, Ga., Sunday night, destroying much of the equipment and personal belongs onboard.

"Traveling back from the baseball game from North Georgia, the bus chartered by the USC Aiken Pacer baseball team caught fire. All players, coaches and contracted transportation personnel made it safely out of the bus.

"The team, coaches and additional personnel are on their way back to Aiken. The university is grateful for the swift action of the contracted bus driver and the fire department in Greensboro, GA.

"Their quick response ensured a safe evacuation of everyone, without any injuries.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation."

A GoFundMe page has been started to help replace the equipment and belongs lost, but USCA officials said  anyone interested in donating should call 803-641-3518.

The Pacers' next scheduled game is Wednesday at home against Erskine.
