Anderson and Coker went into season-ending makeup Monday's doubleheaders unsure if they would join regular-season champion Newberry in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
They did, even though Coker needed help.
The Trojans, Cobras and Lenoir-Rhyne entered Monday tied for the final two tournament berths. Anderson split a doubleheader with Mars Hill, but Coker was swept by Carson-Newman.
Fortunately for the Cobras, Lenoir-Rhyne also was swept by Tusculum, ao there was a two-way tie for eighth. The teams split a pair of nonconference meetings, but those games didn't count for tiebreaker purposes.
Coker went 1-2 against Newberry in the regular season while LR went 0-3. That gave Coker the edge for the final spot in the tournament, which begins Thursday in Kodak, Tenn.
Coker will face Wingate and Anderson will meet Carson-Newman in a pair of elimination games to advance to the six-team double-elimination portion of the event.
Top-seeded Newberry's first game will be against the lower-seeded winner from Thursday.
