Erskine to compete in NCCAA Tournament
Erskine Tweeted on Sunday that it will be competing in the National Christian College Athletic Association baseball playoffs. I couldn't find any information on the NCCAA or Erskine Websites, but the Tweet said Erskine will be the top seed and will play Trinity Baptist on Wednesday at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga.
The NCCAA is based in Greenville and sponsors championships in several sports.
Last year's baseball champion was Campbellsville (Ky.), which is coached by Woodruff native and former North Greenville coach Beauford Sanders.
Sanders' team wins tournament
Speaking of Sanders and Campbellsville, the Tigers won the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship on Sunday with a 4-1 win over Cumberland (Tenn.). It was the school's 10th MSC Tournament title under Sanders' direction.
Campbellsville finished in third place in the regular season and went 4-0 in the tournament over the weekend in Bowling Green, Ky., to earn the league's automatic berth to the NAIA playoffs.
The Tigers have reached the postseason 17 times since 2000. Sanders has won 929 games at Campbellsville and has 1,197 wins counting his tenure at North Greenville.
