Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, April 29-May 5: Spartanburg Methodist

Spartanburg Methodist survived a challenge from Florence-Darlington Tech to win the NJCAA 10 Region regular-season title.

Two games into the region tournament, coach Tim Wallace's Pioneers have worked their way to the top of the heap again. SMC (30-16) has won its first two games to move into the championship round of the tournament. They won their opener over USC Sumter with solid pitching from Jordasn Jackson, then beat Florence-Darlington Tech with a solid offensive outing.

On Tuesday, the Pioneers will have two chances to win one game and earn the right to represent Region 10 in the NJCAA Eastern District Tournament next weekend.
