Coastal Carolina entered the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the fifth seed, then lost its opening-round game to UT Arlington to fall into the losers' bracket.
Coach Gary Gilmore's squad responded well to the adversity, beating regular-season champ Texas State to stay alive. The Chanticleers won four more after that, cappng the comeback by rallying from a 6-0 deficit after two inning to beat Georgia Southern in the championship game, 9-7.
Coastal earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will learn its tournament destination on Monday.
