SMC paces Region 10 awards

Regular-season champion Spartanburg Methodist had five players earn first-team all-NJCAA region 10 status in the league awards announced Thursday based on voting by league coaches.

In addition, Pioneers coach Tim Wallace was named coach of the year, pitcher Jordan Jackson was named pitcher of the year and Houston Wright was named player of the year.

The region tournament begins Friday in Lexington.
