Team of the week, Feb. 12-18: Presbyterian

Presbyterian (4-0 for the week)
(went 4-0 vs. St. Peter's)

Opening weekend was pretty much a extended Sweet 16 party for the Blue Hose. After scoring 10 runs in the season debut against St. Peter's, PC scored 16 runs in each of the final three games to wrap up a monster offensive effort.

Granted St. Peter's probably didn't get as much outdoors workout time in New Jersey as PC did in Clinton, but that can only go so far as an explanation.

Coach Elton Pollock's team hit .424 for the weekend at the field named in his honor. The 58 runs scored fell just short of being one-fifth of PC's season total  of 295 in 55 games in 2023.

Joel Dragoo homered in each game and drove in 14 runs, but his .583 batting average was only third-best on the team behind Brody Fahr's .733 (11-for-15) and Jackson Hugus's .625 (5-for-8 in three games).

PC had 6 doubles, 3 triples and 8 homers as part of a .729 slugging percentage. Peacocks pitchers contributed 36 walks and 6 hit batsmen toward PC's .561 on base percentage.

All that offense shouldn't overshadow some very effective by Blue Hose pitchers, who compiled a 2.40 ERA, held Seton Hall to a .197 batting average and struck out 50 in 30 innings.

Things get real for the Blue Hose quickly, as they visit nationally ranked Clemson on Tuesday. But for now, PC can take a bow.
