Clemson used three solo homers and a pair of unearned runs to beat South Carolina, 5-4, and clinched a series win at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Cole Messina's homer gave USC a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Will Taylor had a solo homer in the bottom of the inning.

A walk and an error on pitcher Dylan Eskew set the stage for a pair of Clemson runs to tie the score at 3-3.

The score remained tied until Nolan Nawrocki hit a home run in the sixth. Blake Wright gave Clemson a two-run lead with a homer in the eighth. Ethan Petry homered for the second straight day, pulling USC within a run. After Messina drew a walk, a grounder ended the game.

Officials are studying options for playing the third game of the series, which was rained out on Friday.

Sion Barnette homered and drove in five runs in the opener ... Grant Sherrod and Koby Kropf had two home runs apiece to support Henry Proger's complete game as USC Upstate hammered Penn ... Benedict swept a three-game series to extend LeMoyne-Owen's losing streak to 60 games going back almost two years ...  Winthrop scored seven runs in the first inning as it wrapped up a sweep of Maine ... Gunnar Johnson hit his second three-run homer of the weekend in the first inning and Wofford polished off Fordham for a series sweep ... USC Aiken scored five runs in the first to complete a PBC sweep of Claflin, which has lost 15 straight games ...
