The Wolves (5-12) snapped a season-high five-game losing streak in dramatic fashion, getting a two-run single by Donovan Ford in the bottom of the ninth at the Smith Road Complex.

There were three lead changes over the first seven innings, with Newberry entering its final at-bat down 7-6. USCA pitcher Jared Huse struck out the first two batters of the inning.

Hunter French worked a walk and  Ryley Stout pinch-ran for him. Cooper. Gentry walked, and Huse was pulled for A.J. Deibel. K.J. Leshko was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ford followed with his single to drive in Stout and Gentry

Errors hurt both teams: Five of the Pacers' seven runs were unearned, as were four of Newberry's eight. USC Aiken fell to 7-12.

Elsewhere: Graham Brown hit two of Coastal Carolina's four homers as the Chanticleers wrapped up a two-game sweep of USC Upstate and pushed their winning streak to 10 games ... Nolan Nawrocki's three-run homer in the second got Clemson started to its sixth consecutive victory ... Three South Carolina pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts in six inning to beat Davidson in a game cut short by rain. Dylan Brewer had a couple of bunt singles and scored two runs for the Gamecocks ... Sam Massey allowed two hits and struck out four in five shutout innings as Charleston Southern gained a split in its midweek series with Penn.

Beyond the border

Down to its final out, LSU scored three runs in the ninth to overtake Southeast Louisiana, 4-3 ... No. 13 Virginia had eight homers among its 24 hits and added 11 walks as it outslugged George Washington, 26-12 ... UCF dumped No. 4 Florida, 9-6. extending its winning streak in the series to five ... Northeastern shut out Georgia Tech, 7-0 ... Charlie Condon hit his 10th homer as Georgia beat Stetson, 11-5.
