Greater Greenville Baseball Hall of Fame revived

The Greater Greenville Baseball Hall of Fame, inactive for a decade, is getting a jump-start thanks to Greenville native and hall of fame member Randy Phillips.

Phillips, a longtime minor-league hitting instructor, is spearheading the revival along with his wife, Renee.

Four people have been selected for induction into the Greater Greenville Baseball Hall of Fame later this year. They are Eric Jarinko, general manager of the Greenville Drive; former major leaguer Bob Kipper, a Greenville resident and pitching coach of the Drive; Travis Barbary, an Easley native who has held several positions in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization; and Greg Burgess, vice president of operations and grounds for the Drive.

Jarinko and Burgess have been instrumental in making Fluor Field available for college and high school games when the Drive are not at home.

Barbary played baseball at the University of Virginia before beginning his pro career. He is the son of Eddie Barbary, who played at Clemson and was a longtime  coach and educator at Easley High School. Eddie's father, Odell "Red" Barbary, was a 1992 induction into the Greenville group.
