Eight on top shortstop watch list
Eight players with South Carolina ties are on the watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award, given annually to the player selected the shortstop of the year in college baseball.Brody Fahr of Presbyterian, Troy Hamilton of USC Upstate, Jacob Hinderleider of Clemson, Arayen Patel of The Citadel, Jack Renwick of Wofford and Luke Wood of College of Charleston are among 100 shortstops being considered for the award given by the College Baseball Foundation.
In addition, former USC Union standout Trent Turner of Western Carolina and Greenville native David Mershon of Mississippi State are on the list.

Neutral site game canceled
A scheduled Saturday game between and Florence-Darlington Tech and USC Salkehatchie at Lexington County Baseball Stadium has been canceled. Both teams will compete in the NJCAA Region 10 Tournament beginning May 3 at the Lexington venue.
