Claflin's opening weekend schedule set

Michael Coker of BlackCollegeNines.com has posted the schedule for the HBCU Battle of the Divisions this weekend in New Orleans. Claflin will open its season in the eight-team event, which has a fixed schedule. The Panthers' first game is at 11 a.m. Friday against Dillard at Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans.

Gamecocks set workout times

South Carolina has announced scrimmage times for Week 2 of preseason practice.  There will be a 5 1/2 inning scrimmage at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, an eight-inning scrimmage at 3 p.m. Friday, a nine-inning event at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and a six-inning practice at 1 p.m. Sunday. The workouts are at Founders Park and are open to the public.
