The Buccaneers got off to an school-best 8-1 start under first-year head coach Karl Kuhn and carried a 12-3 record into Big South Conference play.
They lost their first six conference games and were 2-7 after three weeks of the league schedule. CSU responded with sweeps in their next two conference series to move to their current 8-7 league record (and 22-14 overall).
The Bucs have been doing it with offense. They have a .296 batting average - with 360 hits in 36 games - and have stolen 71 bases.
Kaden Smith leads the Buccaneers in homers (9) and RBI (51). He homered four times - two were grand slams - and drove in 15 runs in the weekend sweep of Longwood.
