* NCAA Division I: Aidan Knaak allowed two hits over six innings as Clemson (32-5, 10-3) run-ruled Stanford (18-13, 5-11) to open an ACC series. Jacob Jarrell hit his third home run of the week as the Tigers won their second straight game ... Sebastian Alexander's fourth-inning grand slam gave Coastal Carolina (24-9, 9-4) the lead and the Chanticleers held on to take the opener of a Sun Belt Conference series at Georgia State (22-14, 8-5) ... Jake Brink struck out nine in a two-hit complete game as College of Charleston (20-12, 6-4) run-ruled Delaware (17-15, 5-5) to open a Coastal Athletic Association series ... Lew Rice's ninth-inning home run lifted Charleston Southern (18-13) over Mercer (22-14) in the opener of a nonconference series ... USC Upstate (17-17, 6-4) broke open a one-run game with an eight-run seventh to take Game 1 of a Big South Conference home series against Winthrop (18-18, 5-5) ... Bear Harrison doubled and homered to drive in seven runs as Texas A&M (19-14, 5-9) hammered South Carolina (20-16, 2-12). The Gamecocks were shut out for the second time in four games ... Samford (19-15, 5-2) allowed two unearned runs in the top of the 11th inning, but scored three times in the bottom of the innings to beat The Citadel (18-16, 3-4). The hosts scored the winner when a throw home on an infield tapper was late. Travis Elliott was 4-for-4 for The Citadel.

* Conference Carolinas: Francis Marion (32-9, 19-6) scored 11 first-innings runs sandwiching a rain delay and extended its winning streak to 13 games with a win over UNC Pembroke (21-18, 9-13) to open a series at Carolina Bank Field ...  Dylan Wanat hit a pair of two-run homers as Erskine (17-23, 6-16) beat Chowan (5-25, 3-19) to snap an eight-game losing streak. Because of a rain/lightning delay, Game 2 was postponed until Saturday.

* Peach Belt Conference: Blayne Newman allowed a run on two hits and struck out eight in seven innings as USC Aiken (17-23, 7-12) snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over neighboring conference rival Augusta (9-31, 5-14).

* South Atlantic Conference: Coker (24-16, 12-10) built a nine-run lead and held off Anderson (21-18, 10-12) in the series opener.  Rocco Wojcik was 2-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI for the Cobras.

* Other four-year schools: Jaquez Akins, Carson Fellows and Justin Murray had two hits apiece as Benedict (16-10, 14-10) took Game 1 of its Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series at Tuskegee (12-26, 8-17) ... Tre Williams doubled and homered to drive in six runs as Columbia International (24-16, 10-12) run-ruled Milligan (25-17, 13-9) to open an Appalachian Athletic Conference series ... Alice Lloyd (18-14) scored three runs in the ninth to win the opener of series against Bob Jones (9-20) at the Red Owens Complex in Easley. Conley Burk had given the Bruins the lead with a three-run homer in the seventh.
