Denmark Tech adding baseball
Denmark Technical College, a junior college in Denmark, is adding baseball to its athletic program. The school plans to compete on the Division I level as part of NJCAA Region 10.
The school opened in 1948 to cater to black students during segregation. It already fields teams in men's and women's basketball and men's soccer.
John Travis Odom posted on X Thursday afternoon that he has been named head coach and is looking for players.
Odom played baseball at Chowan and Methodist before graduating from Claflin He has served as a hitting coach at Voorhees and also has coached at the high school and summer collegiate league levels.
