* NCAA Division: Coastal Carolina (39-11, 21-4) scored seven runs in the seventh to rally from six runs down and beat ULM (21-28, 7-18) in the opener of a Sun Belt Conference series.  Blake Barthol capped the outburst with a two-run single. It was the ninth straight win overall and 13th straight conference wins for the Chanticleers ... Auburn (34-14, 14-11) scored 5, 7, 3 and 9 runs in innings 2 through five innings to to run-rule South Carolina (26-24, 5-20) in the opener of an SEC series. The teams will complete the series with a doubleheader on Friday.

* Peach Belt Conference: Garrett Chun hit a grand slam in the first inning and a two-run shot in the sixth as Lander (41-13) cruised over Columbus State (30-22) in the opening game of the best-of-three championship series.

It was the 13th consecutive win for the Bearcats, who had seven extra-base hits among their 12 safeties. Zach Cowart and Grant Sherrod also homered.
 
Games 2 and 3 - if necessary - will be played Friday. The winner gets the PBC's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
