* LSU 1, Coastal Carolina 0 - The Tigers (52-16) scored a run in the first inning and Kade Anderson struck out 10 in a complete-game three-hitter in the opener of the championship series.
LSU snapped a 26-game winning streak by the Chanticleers (56-12) and spoiled an outstanding outing for Coastal starter Cameron Flukey. He allowed four hits and struck out nine in six innings.
Coastal drew a pair of walks off Anderson in the first inning, but were unable to scratch.

In the bottom of the inning, Derek Curiel drew a leadoff walk and went to second on a groundout. Steven Milam followed with a single up the middle for the game's only run.
The teams combined for nine hits, the fewest ever in a College World Series finals game. The Chanticleers were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. It was the first CWS game since 1972 that there were no runs scored after the first inning.
Game 2 of the series starts at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
