Nighthawks hire ex-Gamecock
Former South Carolina pitcher Nolan Belcher has been hired as head coach at North Georgia. Belcher comes from Georgia College, which is a rival of North Georgia's in the Peach Belt Conference.
Belcher had a 142-108 record in six seasons at Georgia State. He replaces Tom Cantrell, who retired earlier this year with 897 wins in 26 seasons in Dahlonega.
Belcher was a pitcher for USC on the 2010 and 2011 national championship teams and the 2012 national runner-up squad.

Spartans honor ex-Paladin Pianto
Pitcher Dominic Pianto, one of two former Furman baseball players still playing college baseball in 2025, recently received three awards after his senior season at Michigan State. He received the most improved player, student-athlete and Spartan Spirit awards. Pianto made 20 relief appearances and a 3.90 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 30 innings.
Stone Simmons, a pitcher at Mississippi State, was the other former Paladin active in 2025. Furman dropped baseball after the 2020 season.
