Inside the Collegiate Baseball poll
* There are 10 SEC teams in the newspaper's top 29 - No. 1 Arkansas, No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 4 LSU, No. 7 South Carolina, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 13 Mississippi State,  No. 24 Florida, No. 25 Mississippi, Np. 26 Texas A&M and No. 29 Georgia -  and the other four teams - Alabama, Auburn, Mississouri and Tennessee - also received votes.
* The ACC has the second-most teams in the poll, seven, with No. 2 North Carolina, No. 11 N.C. State, No. 17 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Florida State, No. 27 Clemson, No. 28 Miami and No. 25 Virginia.  In addition future ACC member Louisville is in the poll at No. 22.  Future ACC member Notre Dame also received votes.
* Defending national champion Arizona is 18th in the rankings. Collegiate Baseball rarely puts a defending champ that low.

Big South athletes donate
Big South Conference athletes - which almost certainly would include baseball players from Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Presbyterian and Winthrop - have donated almost 10 tons of food to area food banks/pantries as part of a volunteer effort led by the league's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Gray Military position still open?
Gray Military Academy, a post-graduate/junior college-level school in the Columbia area, apparently is still looking for a baseball coach to begin the program starting in the fall of 2013. Athletic Direct Todd Helms (803-569-8508) is listed as the contact.

Chock picks Buccaneers
TheDiamondProspects.com reports Loris pitcher-catcher Tanner Chock has committed to play for Charleston Southern.
