Fourteenth in a series
Answers provided by F-D Tech head coach Preston McDonald.
PSB: After what you saw in fall workouts, what are your team's prospects for the 2013 season?
PM: It will be difficult to match the success from the 2012
season (44-12), but we look to be competitive in a very tough
conference, Region X. Our pitching should keep us in most games and if
we continue to work and improve offensively, we have a chance
at a successful season.
PSB: What are your biggest areas of concern entering the 2013 season?
PM: We lack depth with our position players, so we will need to
make sure our hitters all stay healthy. Offensive production is also a
concern, while trying to replace our all-region leadoff and three-hole
hitters from last year.
PSB: In what areas does your team appear to be improved from the 2012 season?
PM: I think we have more depth on the mound this year, but much of it is unproven.
PSB: Based on fall workouts, which returnees from 2012 (including redshirts) look best prepared to play a bigger role in 2013?
PM: Josh Tant, catcher.
PSB: Based on fall workouts, which newcomers are most likely to contend for major roles in 2013?
PM: Nate Kuhns, outfield; Jared Chee, pitcher; Josh Kisamore, pitcher.
Friday: Charleston Southern
