Florida tops composite of 6 major NCAA DI preseason polls

Florida, ranked No. 1 in each of the six major NCAA Division I baseball preseason polls, is naturally No. 1 in a composite tally of the rankings.

UCLA, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Mississippi complete the Top 5.

South Carolina is tied for 20th with fellow SEC East member Tennessee.

Coastal Carolina is tied for 32nd with Central Florida and Ohio State, while Clemson is tied for Alabama at 36th.

There are nine SEC schools and six ACC schools in the composite Top 25. Another two SEC schools and three ACC schools were ranked in one or more individual polls.

Most teams begin their season Feb. 19.

South Carolina opens with Dayton in Columbia, Coastal Carolina plays host to Duke and Clemson entertains Cincinnati on the opening weekend.

Poll key: NCBWA -- National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association; BBA -- Baseball America; USAT -- USA TODAY coaches; CB -- Collegiate Baseball; D1 -- D1Baseball.com; PG -- PerfectGame.org.

Points are awarded on a descending scale, from 25 points for a first-place vote to 1 for a 25th-place vote. Some polls ranked more than 25 teams, but I kept it at the top 25 for consistency's sake. In the event of ties, the points are divided evenly among the tied teams.
