Clemson, North Greenville learn opponents, schedule Sunday

There are no college baseball games involving South Carolina teams scheduled for Sunday, but at least two teams will learn when they will play their next game.

The ACC will announce the schedule for pool play for its tournament beginning Tuesday at Truist Field in uptown Charlotte. The Tigers are in the same pool as Georgia Tech and Louisville and the three teams will play each other once between Tuesday and Friday. The pool champion joins the winners of the other three pools for the semifinals on Saturday. The two Saturday winners will meet at noon next Sunday for the championship and automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

North Greenville knows it will be hosting the six-team NCAA Division II Southeast Regional in Tigerville beginning Thursday, and will learn its first-round opponent when the selection show is video streamed Sunday night. Wingate and Columbus State have qualified, while Newberry, Catawba. Mount Olive, North Georgia and UNC Pembroke are under consideration for the three at-large berths to complete the field.

The regional winner goes to the NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, N.C. in June.

There's a possibility Florence-Darlington Tech could learn its opponent for the first round of the NJCAA World Series today.  The last slot in the 10-team field was filled Saturday, but the tournament site lists no timetable for when the schedule will be announced.  The tournament is played annually in Grand Junction, Colo. This year's event begins Saturday.
