Cougars win CAA opener via walk-off

Harrison Hawkins was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, lifting College of Charleston to a walk-off win over Towson, 6-5, in the first round of the CAA Tournament in Wilmington, N.C.

The Cougars' (25-23) second-round opponent will be regular-season champion Northeastern.

Coastal Carolina eliminated

East Division champion South Alabama eliminated Coastal Carolina from pool championship contention with a 14-7 victory over the Chanticleers in the Sun Belt Tournament in Montgomery, Ala.

Coastal went 1-1 in the pool but would lose a tiebreaker to South Alabama even if the Jaguars were to lose to Little Rock in its other pool game.

The Chanticleers took leads of 1-0 and 3-1, but USA scored five runs in the second and was never headed.

Nick Lucky and Zack Beach hit two home runs apiece for the Chanticleers (27-24).

Clemson ends season with victory

Bryce Teodosio tripled twice and hit an inside-the-park home run as Clemson beat Georgia Tech, 11-2, in its final game of the season.

The Tigers (25-27) fell behind 3-0 after three innings before rallying to snap a five-game losing streak.  Adam Hackenberg got the Tigers started with a three-run homer in the fourth. Clemson added another run to the lead and scored in the next four innings to take control.

Clemson finished 1-1 in pool play.
