Stingers play in opening game of NJCAA World Series

Florence-Darlington Tech has been awarded the seventh seed for the NJCAA World Series and will play in Saturday's opening game of the event,.

Coach Preston McDonald's Stingers (46-6) will face fourth seed McLennan (42-16) at 2 p.m. EDT at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colo. 

Ten teams will compete in the weeklong double-elimination event to determine a national champion.

Saturday, May 29
Game 1: No. 7 Florence-Darlington Tech (46-6) vs. No. 4 McLennan (42-16), 11 a.m
Game 2: No. 10 Indian Hills (43-14) vs. No. 1 Crowder (52-6), 2 p.m.
Game 3: No. 2 Walters State (60-5) vs. No. 9 Shelton State (39-15), 5 p.m.
Game 4: No. 3 San Jacinto (48-13) vs. No. 8 Miami Dade (36-17), 9:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 30
Game 5: No. 5 Cowley (46-8) vs. No. 6 Central Arizona (48-7), noon
Game 6: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 4 p.m.
Game 7: Game 3 loser s. Game 4 loser, 9:30 p.m.

Monday, May 31
Game 8: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, noon
Game 9: Game 6 winner vs. Game 7 winner, 4 p.m.

Tuesday, June 1
Game 11: Game 5 loser vs. Game 8 loser, 1 p.m.

Game 17: Game 12 winner vs. Game 15 winner, 9:30 p.m.

If three teams remain at Game 18, the team with the most games played receives a bye to Game 19. If there is a tie for games played, the team that won the head to head match up in the tournament shall receive a bye to Game 19. If the tie is still not able to be broken, the higher seed shall advance to Game 19.

Friday, June 4
Game 18: Game 17 winner vs. Game 16 winner, 9 p.m.

Saturday, June 5
Game 19: if necessary, 9 p.m.
