Briefly: Vanderbilt made South Carolina pay for wildness with a shutout win in the opener of an SEC series. The Commodores have won 18 straight and USC has a five-game losing streak. S.C. Sports Talk reports this is first time the Gamecocks have been under .500 this late in the season since 1996 .... Clark Atlanta scored the game's final eight runs - including five in the fifth inning - to take the opener of a doubleheader with Morris in Atlanta despite 10 strikeouts by the Hornets' Silas Coleman.  Tijawan Black had four hits and drove in two runs as the Hornets won the nightcap..
