A Maine native, Leggett was head coach at Clemson for 22 seasons, winning 955 games beginning in 1994. His teams went to 21 NCAA tournaments and reached the College World Series six times. He was replaced by Monte Lee after the 2015 season.
After former Leggett assistant Erik Bakich was hired to replace Lee after the 2022 season, Bakich brought Leggett back to help with player, staff and program development.
In addition to Western Carolina, Leggett also was head coach at Vermont. He won 1,332 games in his career.
