Regular-season champion Newberry and runner-up Wingate are the hosts for the first three rounds of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, the league announced Sunday.
In a change from past tournaments, the early rounds of the event will be played on campus sites. Four-team, double-elimination events will be played at the Smith Road Complex in Newberry and Ron Christopher Stadium in Wingate, N.C., beginnings Friday.
The 1, 4, 5 and 8 finishers in the regular-season standings will compete at Newberry, with the 2, 3, 6 and 7 finishers at Wingate.
Newberry (36-9 overall, 17-4) clinched the regular-season title on Saturday. The Wolves will meet Tusculum at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Wingate (29-16, 18-6) will face No. 7 seed Anderson at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Limestone finished in an eighth-place tie with Tusculum at 11-13, in the conference, but Tusculum won the head-to-head series, 2-1, to take the tiebreaker.
The winner at each site will advance to a best-of-three championship series at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn., May 7-8, with the winner of that series taking the automatic bid to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
