Clemson 8, N.C. State 5 - Caden Grice struck out eight in six innings and the Tigers made an early 6-lead stand up to complete an ACC series sweep and even its league record at at 9-9.

Clemson (25-16 overall) has climbed from 14th place to eighth in the ACC standings and continued to enhance its resume as it tries to work into consideration for - at least - an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Cam Cannarella and Cooper Ingle had three hits apiece for the Tigers, with Will Taylor, Riley Bertram and Benjamin Blackwell adding two apiece.

After a midweek home game with Kennesaw State, the Tigers return to ACC play at Boston College, which swept North Carolina in Chapel Hill this weekend.

Wofford 6, Samford 2 - The Terriers (29-10, 8-4) moved into a tie with Samford (22-18, 8-4) and Mercer (26-15, 8-4) for first place in the SoCon by taking the finale of their three game series. Wofford dropped the series opener to fall two games behind before taking the last two games.

The rubber game was scoreless until Samford's Josh Rodriguez homered off Terriers' starter Matthew Marchal in the sixth inning. But Gunnar Johnson hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning and Wofford (29-10., never trailed again.

Wofford's next SoCon series is at UNC Greensboro beginning May 5.

Southern Mississippi 15, Coastal Carolina 7 - The Eagles (23-15, 11-7) salvaged the finale of a Sun Belt Conference showdown of ranked teams and kept Coastal Carolina (26-12, 13-5) from pulling further away from the rest of the league.

After falling behind 4-0 after a half inning, the Chants scored four runs in the third and three in the fifth for a 7-4 lead. But Southern Miss scored two in the sixth, five in the eighth and four in the ninth to win going away.

Wins in the first two games of the series had given the Chanticleers a three-game lead over five teams heading into Sunday. Of those five teams, Southern  Miss was the only one to win on Sunday.

Coastal's next series is at Louisiana, one of the four teams it leads by three games.
