More A-A honors for state players

Clemson's Billy Amick (DH) Caden Grice (utility) and South Carolina's Cole Messina (catcher) have been named first-team all-Americans by the College Baseball Foundation. Grice was a unanimous selection in voting by the Foundation's awards committees.

Also, USC outfielder Ethan Petry and Coastal Carolina reliever Teddy Sharkey were second-team picks.

Three state players on National Team tryout list

USA Baseball on Friday announced is complete tryout roster for the training camp for the Collegiate National Team. Clemson's Cam Cannarella and Austin Gordon and USC's Ethan Petry are on the roster. After tryouts, the teams will play several games exhibition over the summer, including a pair against Japan at Joe Riley Park in Charleston July 11-12.

Clemson, USC recruits honored

Clemson had two recruits named high school all-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Dillon Head of Flossmoor, Ill., and shortstop Samuel Stafura of Cortland Manor, N.Y., were first-team picks.

South Carolina baseball commitment Grant Loggins of Flora High was named first-team pitcher.

Outfielder P.J. Morlando of Summerville was a second-team pick.

Greenville High pitcher Taylor Rabe was a third-team selection.

* Rabe also was named school baseball player of the year in South Carolina by Prep Baseball Report. The right-hander has committed to Ole miss.

Smith gets extension in High Country

Appalachian State has announced coach Kermit Smith's contract has been extended through the 2027 season. Smith had a successful run at Lander before moving to Boone.
