* Florida 5, South Carolina 4 - B.T. Riopelle's sixth-inning homer gave its first lead and the Gators held on to take the first game of the best-of-three series. Will McGillis hit two home runs, including one to lead off the game in USC's two-run first inning. The Gamecocks took a 3-2 lead in the second on a McGillis single, and held the lead until the fifth.

Florida added a run in the eighth to take a two-run lead. McGillis' second homer with two outs in the ninth capped the scoring.

Game 2 is set for 3 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2.
