Stingers' opening series canceled

Florence-Darlington Tech's scheduled season-opening home series with Bryant & Stratton has been canceled because of prospects of bad weather in the area over the weekend. The teams had been scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Tech's season is now scheduled to begin with a Feb. 2 game against Chattahoochee Valley in the Panama City Beach (Fla.) JuCo Classic.

The Stingers will play several home games at Carolina Bank Field this season, including the home opener with Harford Feb. 16. The first on-campus action is a Feb. 17 doubleheader with CCBC Dundalk.

The FD Tech cancellations leave USC Salkehatchie's Sunday home doubleheader with Walters State as the only games on this weekend's Palmetto State schedule.  That was originally to be a three-game Friday-Saturday series.
