Palmetto State Baseball team of the week, Feb. 5-11: Voorhees

Voorhes (4-1 for the week)
(beat Claflin, lost to Edward Waters, went 3-0 vs. Harris-Stowe)

The Tigers won five games in 2023.

They almost matched that this week.

A midweek win over Claflin gave Voorhees momentum for a busy weekend on its home field in Denmark, when it won three of four games to even its season record at 4-4.

Coach Norman O'Neal got contributions from all over the roster.

Angel Morel won both starts, went 3-for-9 at the plate and capped a walk-off win by scoring on Michael Ramos'  single in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.

Shane Barbosa was 7-for-16 and drove in five runs. Bryce Reed and Isaiah Palmer had six hits apiece. David Johnson saved the game against Claflin and pitched a complete game against Harris-Stowe on Friday.

Up next for the Tigers: at home against Bluefield State, Friday.
