Brice Martinez scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth as Wofford grabbed a 12-11 opening day victory over Towson at Russell C. King Field in Spartanburg.
The Terriers scored four runs in the first and led 5-4 until Towson scored four runs in the fifth to go up 8-5. Wofford scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth tie the score, then plated three in the eighth to take an 11-8 lead.
But Towson pushed across three in the ninth to tie the score.
Martinez led off the bottom of the inning with a single, went to second on a wild pitch and gotto third on Gunnar Johnson's sacrifice bunt. Tigers reliever Luis River then unleashed his second wild one of the inning to bring Martinez home.

Tyler Hare had three hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs. Dixon Black, Adam Haber and Marshall Toole added two hits each.
Edwards was promoted to head coach of the Terriers after Todd Interdonato was hired at Boston College. By the way, Interdonato won his first game as the Eagles beat Ohio State, 9-2.
Wofford plays Bucknell at 4 p.m. Saturday before facing Towson again on Sunday.
