Game of the day
Benedict 7, Lane 6, 10 innings
Kenyan Conner Jr. led off the 10th inning with a pinch-hit home run as the Tigers salvaged the finale of their opening series in walk-off fashion.

Benedict fell behind early when Lane's Pollito Perez led off the game with a home run.

The Dragons pushed the lead to 3-0 before Benedict scored twice in the fourth to pull within a run.

Lane quickly regained momentum on Kaden Hall's three-run double in the fifth, making the score.

The Tigers began chipping away, getting a two-run homer from Jayden Jones in the sixth. Run-scoring singles from Jamel Mitchell and Preston Hall-Pointer in the eighth tied the score.

Lane threatened to take the lead in the 10th, but Hall was thrown out at home trying to score on an error.

Tigers coach Selwyn Young opted to have Conner bat for Jose Gill to lead off the bottom of the inning and the redshirt sophomore sent the fans home happy with a blast over the left-field fence.

Kent Johnson pitched five shutout innings of one-hit relief the get the victory.

Jones, Justin Murran and Frankey Moree had two hits apiece for Benedict, which stole eight bases.

The Tigers are idle until a home series with Tuskegee next weekend.
