Wright helps USA take second place

Davis Wright from Spartanburg Methodist got a win for the United States team in its final game of pool play in the Honklbalweek tournament in the Netherlands. He struck out three and allowed two hits in four shutout innings in a 2-0 win over Spain on Tuesday.

Team USA, consisting of NJCAA players, lost to Japan, 10-4, in the championship game on Friday.

Davis made two appearances in the tournament, pitching five shutout innings, allowing three hits, walking two and striking out three.

Petry an all-star

South Carolina's Ethan Petry has been named to the East roster for the Cape Cod (summer collegiate) League's all-star game. Petry, who plays for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, is batting .361 with 6 homers and 15 RBI.
