* Jacob Rudner of Baseball America reports Coastal Carolina pitcher Hayden Johnson is no longer expected to return from an in injury in time to play this season. The left-hander had a 5-0 record, a save and 2.82 ERA as a freshman last season.
* Markus Kirksey has become USC Union's career home run leader with 18. He has eight this season, tying him with Jesus Garcia for the team lead. Aiden Talarico set the single-season record with 15 homers last season. Talarico transferred to Florida Southwestern, where he has hit 15 homers this season.
* Morris first baseman Adrian Quinones had to leave Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against Florida National because of a wrist injury suffered in a collision with an FNU batter/baserunner while trying to field a bunt in the second inning. A video stream showed Quinones lying on the ground near first base for several minutes before an EMS unit arrived and transported him to a facility for treatment.
* Charlie Bussey III has become Francis Marion's single season leader in runs scored. He has touched home a mind-boggling 74 times in 39 games. Of course, a .506 batting average with 78 hits, 36 walks and 7 hit-by-pitches give him plenty of chances to be on base for teammates to bring around. He has 12 homers and 57 RBI, but neither is a team high. Ethan McAnally (13, 59) is tops in both.
* Erskine has won eight of its last nine games.
* Bob Jones has added a fourth game to its weekend home series with Baptist University of Florida. The teams will play doubleheaders at 5 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday at Conestee Park.
