* Briefly: CJ Dean's two-run single in the seventh inning gave top-seeded North Greenville (43-8) and the Trailblazers held on beat King (14-37) in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. King built an early three-run lead before NGU rallied. Connor McKee and Landon Peavey had two hits and two RBI apiece for the Trailblazers, who were able to stay in the game with shutout relief pitching from Thayer Tavormina (5-1). North Greenville plays Young Harris at 3 p.m. Friday ... The Flying Fleet got home runs from Ricky Dober, Mason McManus, Drew Potts and Carson Yates in the first two innings, but were unable to withstand the FMU comeback. Ethan McAnally had three singles and a homer for the Patriots, who play Belmont Abbey at 7 p.m. Friday. Zander Buchan, Adrian Nina and Riley Orr drove in runs each for FMU.
