Coming off a Big South Conference series loss at Presbyterian last week brought first-place Winthrop back to the pack a little bit with a potent USC Upstate offense coming up next.

Coach Mike McGuire's team was up to the challenge, winning three tight games to hold on to first place The tightest game came Sunday, when the Eagles needed three ninth-inning runs to force extra innings - which they got - and a walk-off single from Chazz Grossington in the 10th to win.

Up next: At home Tuesday vs. Elon before a weekend conference series at Gardner-Webb.
