Lander, Francis Marion, North Greenville in NCAA DII Tigerville Regional


North Greenville (47-10) is top seed for the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and will one of two host sites for the eight-team event beginning this weekend.

The Trailblazers won the regular-season championship in Conference Carolinas, but lost to Young Harris in the tournament finals. Coach Landon Powell's team will play Peach Belt Conference Tournament champ Lander (36-19) on Thursday at Ray and Bea Dillard Field in Tigerville. The Bearcats are is the No. 8 seed.

Francis Marion (42-12) qualified as the fifth seed and will play No. 4 North Georgia (41-146) on Thursday.

The four other Southeast Regional teams will compete in Salisbury, N.C., with No. 2 seed Catawba (42-11) as the host. The Indians will play No. 7 Belmont Abbey (38-14). The other first-round game there has No. 3 Wingate (39-17) meeting No. 6 Young Harris (39-16).

Both sites are double-elimination events. The last team standings at each site advances to a best-of-three super regional the following week, with the higher seed to host. The super regional winner joins seven other teams in the NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, N.C. later this month.
