USC Beaufort begins practiceUSC Beaufort began practice Monday in preparation for its first season of baseball. The Sand Sharks, coached by former major leaguer Rick Sofield, open their season Jan. 31 with a doubleheader against Southern Wesleyan.

  • Lander players assist Miracle LeagueLander University's baseball team recently participated in a community service project with the Miracle League of Greenwood. Miracle leagues give special needs people a chance to enjoy baseball. There's at least one league in the Mauldin area, and USC coach Ray Tanner's Ray Tanner Foundation has been involved in getting a program going in Columbia.
