North Carolina and LSU are co-favorites to win the national championship this season based on a compilation of results from six preseason polls.
The preseason rankings by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Ping!Baseball, Rivals.com and the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll were used in the compilation.
Using a scoring formula awarding 25 points for a first-place votes down to 1 point for a 25th-place vote, North Carolina and LSU received 146 points apiece. UNC was No. 1 in three polls, LSU in two and Texas A&M in one.
Texas A&M finished third with 130 voting points. Completing the Top 10 were No. 4 Rice (124), No. 5 Georgia (114), No. 6 Cal State Fullerton (113), No. 7 Texas (111 1/2), No. 8 Florida State (91 1/2), No. 9 Mississippi (88) and No. 10 Arizona State (79).
Completing the Top 25 were: No. 11 Cal Irvine (78), No. 12 Georgia Tech (76), No. 13 Stanford (69), No. 14 San Diego (63), No. 15 (tie) Baylor (61) and Louisville (61); No. 17 (tie) Miami, Fla. (58) and Oklahoma State (58), No. 19 Pepperdine (54), No. 20 Missouri (39), No. 21 (tie) Fresno State (29) and UCLA (29), No. 23 Oklahoma (24), No. 24 Florida (23) and No. 25 Alabama (15).
Also receiving votes were Clemson (14), Auburn (10), Kentucky (10), Arkansas (9), Kent (8), Coastal Carolina (7), Missouri State (7), Oregon State (3) and Southern California (2).
