Where is Justin Smoak in this list??

As with most "best of" lists, Kendall likely had criteria he went by when making his selections. It might differ from what you or I might look at when making a similar list.

I didn't have time to look up the numbers on all 10 guys on the list, but Smoak's career batting average doesn't stack up that well vs. the guys I did check -- mostly ones the lower half of the list.

Smoak had a .331 batting average for his career, but his .383 mark as a junior really dwarfed his .303 as a freshman and .315 as a sophomore. These first two years are pretty pedestrian numbers for college.

Alonso, at No. 10, averaged .344 even though he hit .295 as a freshman. Burke, at No. 9, was at .404 and Posey, at No. 8, hit .398. Greene hit .377 and Griffin hit .427. Smoak matches up well in homers, slugging, RBI and runs. I suspect the relatively low BA contributed to him not being on the list.

Thanks for reading my blog and commenting! I hope I can make it worth checking on a regular basis.
